Follow these quick Cirio recipes for a delisciously spooky Halloween

Preparing for Halloween? There’s nothing scarier than a severed hand. Guaranteed to spook any adult or child, Cirio’s severed hand can be enjoyed alone or with a salad!

Severed Hand

PREP TIME: 10 MINS
COOKING TIME: 25 MINS

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp of breadcrumbs
  • 500g of turkey breast fillets, chopped
  • 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium potato
  • 1 large carrot, chopped
  • 400g of Cirio peeled plum tomatoes
  • 70g of grana padano cheese
  • Handful of parsley
  • ½ onion
  • 1 tsp of nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Boil the potato with the skin for 20-25 minutes until soft and mash with a fork.
  2. Use a blender or food processor to finely chop the turkey breasts and carrot.
  3. Place the turkey and carrot mix in a bowl and add the mashed potato, egg and parsley. Also, add salt, pepper and nutmeg and stir until well combined.
  4. Place Cirio’s peeled plum tomatoes, olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper into a separate bowl and pre-heat the oven to 180C.
  5. Shape the meat mixture into a hand and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Push squared pieces of onion onto the tips of the fingers to create a nail and place the remaining onion at the wrist so it resembles a bone.
  6. Sprinkle with olive oil, tomato sauce, cheese and breadcrumbs and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 45 minutes.

Creepy Eyeball Sandwiches

There’s nothing creepier than being watched as you eat. These delicious Cirio turkey eyeball meatballs are guaranteed to treat your Halloween hunger pangs!

PREP TIME: 15 MINS

COOKING TIME: 25 MINS

  • 12 hot dog buns
  • 1 can of cannellini beans, drained
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp of butter
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of chopped fresh herbs of your choice
  • 8 pitted green olives, sliced into 3 round slices
  • 400g of Cirio’s passata classica
  • 50g of SuperCirio tomato puree
  • 500g of turkey mince meat
  • 2-4 black olives, chopped to make 24 very small pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Using a fork, crush the cannellini beans to form a paste. Beat the egg and add to the bean paste while also adding the butter and soy sauce. Follow by adding turkey mince into the mixture.
  2. With wet hands, form 24 meatballs out of the above mixture and place them onto a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 200C and push a slice of green olive into the centre of each meatball to resemble an eye. Follow by baking in the oven for 10 minutes until cooked.
  4. Meanwhile in a saucepan, cook Cirio’s passata classica, SuperCirio tomato puree and your selection of herbs for 10 minutes.
  5. Once the meatballs are cooked, place a small piece of black olive into the middle of the green olive eye in order to create an eyeball.
  6. Cut the hot dog buns in half, add 2-3 tbsp of the cooked tomato sauce and push 2 meatballs into each bun…spooky!

COOKING TIME: 10 MINS

  • 250g of puff pastry
  • 100g of Cirio’s Pizzassimo sauce
  • 3 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • 100g of fresh Mozzarella
  • Handful of green pepper stuffed olives
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Roll the puff pastry into a large, thick rectangle shape.
  2. Using a large, round shaped cutter, cut out as many shapes as possible from the dough to form mini pizzas. These should be 6-7 inches in size.
  3. Spread one teaspoon of Pizzassimo sauce onto each mini pizza and drizzle with a little olive oil. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 10 minutes
  4. Meanwhile cut the mozzarella into half an inch thin strips and slice the olives in half.
  5. Once the mini pizzas have cooked, allow them to cool and arrange the olives with the pepper stuffing facing upwards to resemble eyes. Follow by arranging the mozzarella strips around the mini pizzas like bandages.
  6. Pop the complete mini mummy pizzas in the oven for a few minutes before serving to melt the cheese.
